In the past week, I’ve heard that my generation doesn’t work, that my generation works too hard, that we have these absurdly prolonged childhoods, and that we never have a chance to be kids. I was frustrated by U.S. News’s ranking of high schools—but this 60 Minutes piece has trumped it.

Apparently 60 Minutes has decided that ageism is now okay? The promotion of blatant generational stereotypes is now an acceptable way to sell ad space? I guess I’m fine with it, if you are. Let me know if I’m getting the wrong message from this segment. Otherwise, it’s on, old man.

THIS JUST IN! Young people are different from old people and it freaks them out! Just like the generation before them and the generation before them. Things change, get over yourselves!

Who is to blame for this…? Our freaking parents! Your generation! If we’re the problem then we were raised badly by “the greatest generation” so maybe you’re a little less great than you might think.

This is just ridiculous. We are not longer going to work for “the company” because the company flat out doesn’t care about us. We’ve all seen our parent’s lives come crashing down because the company they spent so many years working for dropping them like a bad habit for a plethora of reasons.

If the company wants good people they need to work to keep them. We’ve got choices and we’re going to exercise them. Don’t baby us. Just treat us like adults with choices. That’s what we are and that’s what we’ve got.
