Loyalty

I was thinking earlier today and last night driving home how contractors, in a way, are more loyal to a company since we try to miss as little work as possible.

We don’t have vacation time. We don’t have sick leave. We don’t get paid for holidays when the office is closed.

We’re here come hell of high water because we don’t get paid when we’re not.

We’re more loyal employees.

If we were full timers. Wouldn’t we share that same loyalty?

Maybe. Maybe not.

No one wants to take a chance to make the contractors full timers so while we’re more loyal in the short run, turnover amongst us is higher because we look for better deals since there’s no reason to stay somewhere that doesn’t respect you enough to bring you on full time despite working very hard for them.

And people wonder why our generation has no loyalty.
